Default Suggestion--New Title/Rank for Heroes' Ascent: Helping lower/unrank people

As most of you know, there is a huge discrimination among ranks in Heroes Ascent. It is a rare sight to see a rank 9+ group taking in rank 3 pugs into their group.

If this keeps up, those who are new to PvP will eventually give up. It will come to a point where they are waiting for hours to look for a group, frustrated because they could have PvE instead, and when they do find a group, they will get PWNED by a higher rank-- experienced group. Yes, I am talking on behalf to those who are new to HA, who has the potential, but never the opportunity~ ( = decline of growth rate in new PvP'ers + lose interest in Guildwars)

This "test-weekend" that is comming up sounds exciting, new skill balance, maps, etc etc etc... but how much will those who are new to HA enjoy it, when they get turned away by those rank groups???

I am not sure if it is possible, but I wonder if Anet can formulate a new emote/rank system that gives credit when a high rank player plays with a low rank players, or vice versa. If this is possible, the rank discrimination barrier will break down, groups will form a lot faster.

By doing so, those with lower rank will received their rank by the help of an experience high rank player. Once they receive their rank, this trend of "helping other" will continue as they will help others get their rank. I am not sure if I am right or wrong, but there could be a possibility that if this was in fact implemented, the growth of PvP'ers in the next 6-12 months will be outstanding.

Suggestion: New emotes as a reward to help others PVP. Its a win/win for both new players and experienced players.

What do you guys think?

Wait till test weekend. Rank may change, as well as the whole aproach to HA.

Rank better not change. I worked for it and would like to think it means something.

Your suggestion is basically good, but I think would be too difficult to implement. How would they keep track of when you were helping a new player? just comparing ranks in group wouldn't be enough. I've played R6-9 groups with unranked players, because I know those players are good.

I think high level pvp players should take it upon themselves to help new players out. I do sometimes, but if people don't want to listen to me telling them what skills to bring and how to play their bar, their own fault that they will never get better.

This has been suggested before and its not gonna happen. No one would care about this title even if there was an emote. No one would see this as a measure of someone's worth to a team. And playing HA is not about getting rank, its about winning HoH and holding. Hopefully the test weekend comes up with something good so that builds do not have to be so defensive.

This would not help anything, other than maybe making the lower ranks stop whining... for like 12 hours. Seriously, a new title will not get lower ranks into higher ranked groups. Also, it is not rank discrimination, it is skill discrimination. You say rank discrimination like you have the exact same or more skill, knowledge, etc. as the higher ranks. If this is true, why do you even want in the higher ranked groups? Since all the lower ranks are just as good, go form your own groups and totally wtfpwn halls and get a higher rank fast since rank means nothing and you're just as good... but oh wait it's skill discrimination not rank...

Anyway, I'm not going to /sign or /notsign because it really wouldn't do jack.

You guys made some good points.

I understand that what I am suggestion contains many flaws and may even seem impossible. Perhaps it is, and maybe it is just me.

I just thought that it would have been nice if we offer a sort of new title incentive, where players can all have fun not being so picky about who is in their group, and where winning can be both rewarding for new players and veterans that is in the same group.

It sucks to see new players to HA being rejected all the time, being bored of random arena, and eventually giving up on this game.

1: This has been suggested several times.
2: People would farm it with their second accounts or friends accounts.

Rank is meaningless enough as it is. There is no need to introduce more meaningless titles into pvp. I personally believe a protector of elona is most likely a better player than a rank 3 gladiator, per say. At least some of those missions take some kind of strategy other than "spam (insert overpowered mindless skill)"
